Voici les commentaires que nous avons reçus en réponse à la question 1 de la consultation en ligne, qui est : Comment pourrait-on faciliter la recherche et l'utilisation des données gouvernementales fournies en ligne?
Nous sommes engagé à respecter la Loi sur les langues officielles et à faire en sorte que tous les renseignements soient fournis en français et en anglais. Les renseignements venant de sources externes, tels que l'information dans la section « Commentaires reçus », sont affichés dans la langue dans laquelle ils nous ont été fournis. Les commentaires du public sont offerts à titre d'information seulement; aucune modification n'y est apportée. On ne demande pas de rétroaction sur ces commentaires.
A single repository of information with an intutive search engine would be most useful. Statistics Canada has been excellent in acting in this capacity in collaboration with agencies such as the Canadian Institution for Health Information. Also, I commend the government on the current direction of proactively releasing information known to be vital for planning, in may case health care planning, across the nation.

Plus...La recherche devrait toujours se faire via un catalogue de métadonnées avec celles-ci les plus complètes possible. Des recherche par attribues et cartographique sont aussi indispensable.
Les données ouverte devra toujours être jumelé à une information géographique.

Provide more access to field datasets in ecology, forestry, biology and related fields that are held by the various ministries. Provide a data portal for these datasets and provide incentives for government researchers to share this data and make it available to the public.

Finding the data is not usually a problem, but getting access to it often is, for one reason or another. The holders of the data should be better aware that the data was acquired at the tax-payers expense.
